I have a Savana Van.....

OK, it is a GMC, but Express vans outnumber Savana 100 to 1 on the road, and noone ever reponds to my threads in the GMC forums. They are identical, by the way.

My problem is two fold: I have a moaning front end, only when engine is cold. Stops after running the engine about 5 minutes. Three different shops have looked at it, and cannot find it. I have had the power steering pump replaced, as well as tie rods, etc. all across the front end. Virtually every thing new except the rack and pinion gear, but I am promised that is not the problem. Closest guess is maybe a bushing in the steering column, and all it needs is a little grease. Well, of course there is no grease fitting. Any one know anything about this?

Second problem is about the "service engine soon" light. Please be so kind as to visit the GMC forum, under Savana and read this one. It is potentially expensive and I need some advice. You are welcome to respond to me directly at Farr645@peoplepc.com.

Thanks

Re: I have a Savana Van.....

I cant see it being the steering column but "I have a moaning front end, only when engine is cold" is not specific enough to diagnose here. You need to try and listen for exact location. Does it do it when van is at a stand still or in motion?

Have you been around when your mechanics were diagnosing? If so did all of you hear it then? If the van is warm at the shop maybe it needs to cool down awhile (many hours depending on outside temp.) before they can properly troubleshoot.
