Daytime running lights 1999 taurus wagon

I did a search and did not find this question. Sorry if it has already been answered. I just bought a 99 taurus wagon. My wife is use to Daytime running lights and the Taurus does not appear to have it. I've seen some threads talk about the 97 with DRL and I was some with 2001 ask who does not have DRL. Is there something I can do to turn it on or do I have to buy an after market product?

I though that was some sort of mandated safety feature?

In Canada it might be. I'm not entirely sure where the DRL module would be, but I can check for you and see if I can find where it would be on the car (Shop manual)

Re: Daytime running lights 1999 taurus wagon

I have a 98 Taurus wagon from Canada. It has the DRL module. My lights came on when nobody was driving and wouldn't go off unless I pulled the light bulb connectors off. I found the DRL fuse under the hood and pulled it. There is an after market part that can be installed to take its place, it costs about $25 at Partsource.

In canada any car made from 1990 and later must have DRL.
