94 Lumina Shifting Problem

Hi:

I have a 94 Lumina APV with 205k on it. Has been a great vehicle with no major problems. Recently I have had an issue with shifting, in particular, when I am slowing down or stopping, the car does not downshift but will stutter and stumble and even make a grind noise. Sometimes from a start will not go in Drive, I have to shift down to L2 or L1. Is this a major tranny problem or possibly a simple vaccum issue etc?. Trans has been serviced within last 20K.

Thanks,

Bears

Re: 94 Lumina Shifting Problem

Looks like a stuck TCC solenoid: keeps the TCC engaged when going to a stop and stalls the engine. This requires repplacing the TCC solenoid, behind front cover . NOt toobad to do on the 3 speed 3.1, but more complicated on the 4speed with the 3.8. Check this out for the 3.1
