tire size?

hi, i had a question on tires sizes on my camaro. I am going to get 2 new back tires and i was wondering on what size. Now i have 245/50/15's. The 245 is the with of the tire right? and the 50 is how tall the side wall is? Do you think a 275/50/15 would be a good choise and would fit? I can get thoes off tire rack for $108 a tire and the are bfg radial t/a's. Or at this tire shop i can get 265/50/15's for $119 a tire. but that is mounted and balanced and all. I just want a wide back tire. i heard 275 is the widest tire i can get.

Re: tire size?

ya i think i will just get the 275's off tire rack, the only thing is the cost of mounting and balence.

Re: tire size?

i dont think 275's will work with an 8" wide wheel assuming you have stock wheels

245 is the width of the trire in MM's, the 50 is the aspect ratio, meaning the tire sidewall is 50% as tall as the width of the tire, which is 122.5 milimeters. a 275/50-R15 should fit a 8" wheel but it would be close, i think something like a 265/50R15 would be best for you though

Re: tire size?

I used to run 255s with 7" wheels no problem. An 8" wheel will work with a 275 tire, but you will need to recalibrate your speedometer.

Re: tire size?

ya thats another thing, my spedometor is like 10mph fast, i don't know why, the car don't have diffrent gears or any thing, so maybe this will help it a little. And how do you fix the spedometor on a 92 camaro? i here there is a gear you can buy but where you get them?

Re: tire size?

you need to change the gears for the speedo, go to www.700r4.com to find out which ones you need

Re: tire size?

last question, will 275/60/15's big to big in the side wall? will it look like a truck tire or ride to high?
