electrical (lights ) problem on my mk2

hey!
I own a 1990, golf mk2, 1.8gl. For about a year now, the lights (both headlights, tail and console) have been "uneven". Its like if you where to constant adjust a dimmer switch making the light go stronger and weaker every 1 sec or so. I notice the rpm is slightly uneven (jumps and falls 200rpm+/-) when the car is ideling, but im told this is normal to older cars. The light problem is constant, no matter speed.

note, its not like flicking the light, its more like going from 100% to 80% and back to 100% all the time

anyone have a clue what could cause this? Mechanics here in Norway seem clueless

I don't think is normal. There might be a problem with the battery recharger coil. See if they know what the problem is in some good repair garage.
