Whick OBD-2 scan tool to get????

I have a 99 silverado LT EXT CAB 4X4 with 120,000 miles and am finally starting to have some problems. (beginning to run rough under a load when cold) i am looking to get a OBD-2 scan tool but i wanted to get anybodys opinion on what to get. should i get the PC windows based OBD-2 (tekmate, Auterra, Autoenginuity, PCMSCAN) these are all on ebay for $70 to $299. I do have a pc in a garage that is easily accessable and i also have a laptop. Or should i get a hand held unit like an Equuis Innova, auto xray. these are alos on ebay for $100 - $300 and up. i paln on keeping this vehicle for another 3-4 years in that it is still perfect. what do you guys think?

Pc or Hand held??

which models should I keep an eye on?

Which should I stay away from??

Re: Whick OBD-2 scan tool to get????

There's an awesome "advisor" guy on this forum and his handle is "MT-2500". That handle is in reference to the Snap-On MT-2500 diagnostic scanner (MT, I hope that's true). I've had one for 4 years now and wouldn't have anything else. They are readily availble on EBay also. They are a bit spendy but so many of the cheaper ones will not allow you to get into functional tests. If you look at them make sure they include the domestic cartriges for your year vehicle.

Well that's my worth..........Steve

The best one is made by Vetronix, the mastertech and they are ahead of Snap On on the new technologies.
