Radio is on "LOC"rharmon 10-27-2006, 08:46 PM I've exhausted every other option so I thought I'd post it here before paying the dealer $80 or buying a new stereo... My malibu is a '99. I've had it for 2 years. It's had 2 previous owners. I recently had a friend replace the intake gasket and during this process the power was disconnected from the radio causing it to "LOC". This malibu wouldn't come out of the factory with this activated, correct? I assume a previous owner activated this feature with a code. I looked in my manual hoping there is a "universal code" but had no such luck. Also tried using generci codes like 1234. I asked my buddy who did the work and he said the only option is to take it to a GM dealer so they can hook it up to their computer in order to scan for the code. I called them and it's $80 and takes 1-3 hours. I personally believe this whole ordeal is a bunch of crap. Does anyone else have any suggestions other than buying a new friggen stereo or paying 80 friggen dollars to be able to listen to some music? twistedtech 10-28-2006, 07:43 AM If you can handle a day or 2 more I will go to my shop and get the process for pulling the code out. There is a code that you get from the radio and I can phone gm and they will give me the unlock code. Then I can post it back for you.PM me if you wish. alblogg 10-31-2006, 06:12 PM I've exhausted every other option so I thought I'd post it here before paying the dealer $80 or buying a new stereo...
