95 GrandAM SE running BAD!!! Help!

This is my girlfriends car, and we use it to run back and forth to school usually once a week...it usually takes about an hour. Anyway, about 2 weeks ago we stopped to get gas and by the time we got home the car felt like it was missing in one of the cylinders. The car has no power and sputters when you give it gas on hills. I know on jeeps there is a TPS(throttle position sensor) that usually goes bad, but I'm not really sure with this pontiac engine. I ruled out gas because we have filled it uop three or four times since then with good gas and is still runs the same.

Can someone give me a list of things to check considering I don't really know much about this engine. The car has 95,000 on it and its the 4cylinder DOHC.

Thanks in advance...

I'm a noob compared to most people here but these seem to be things that might help a little...

1) Fuel Injector Cleaner and maybe oil?
2) I don't know if a bad MAF could cause this problem but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong
3) "Accidentally" leave it unlocked in a downtown ghetto

Possible solutions

I would guess maybe dirty/bad fuel injectors or you might want to replace spark plugs

I'm probably going to change the spark plugs and see if that does anything...it seems like the car is only running on 3 cyl.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Get it scanned for trouble codes!

I bet thiers a misfire , at least from what you hav described.
Pretty low miles for a 95' , I'd also replace the boots(wires) that connect the plugs and coils.

Lets me know if that doesnt help.

It does seem like a misfire...there is no engine light though

Check them anyway. Some codes won't set off the light. Usually emissions problems set the light. Does the light ever flash?

Might not get a check engine on your 95'. This year, along with the 94' are a hybrid ODB system.
So you might hav trouble finding a scanner that'll read the DTC's. Most end up at the stealership.

I'm not even sure if some thing like AutoTap will read these 94-95' GA's ......
