Unhappy Turbo not working today, what to do

please help me someone, i tried searching online and nothing came up about my turbo not boosting. it was working fine till a few days ago i started to feel a big lag while speeding up. they feel like little pauses during acceleration, its not just one time while im gassing it. it happens once turbo is kicking in. im familiar with the turbo lag in the beggining but its something totaly different.

Re: Turbo not working today, what to do

either you've developed a large air leak in the system, or your turbo bearings are shot. If you have easy access to the turbo, check the shaft play and look for rub marks on compressor housing where the compressor is. It should never touch the housing, if it does, you need a rebuild.

i drive a 97 gst eclipse and the trubo hold pressure and runs normal when i srart it up and continue driving, only when i have been driving is when the boost does not kick in anymore. not even to 1psi, i have a pressure guage and it shows it does not hold pressure. unless i suddendly step on the gas is when it holds a while still leaking but that happens when i drive it for a good 45 min or more. it does sound like an air leak, thats the only thing that makes sense. i have been driving the car for about three weeks and ran it for a long drive before but this is the first time it started happening. anyone heard of this thing. thanks for the advice im going to take it to the shop hopefully i wont get price raped

Re: Turbo not working today, what to do

that's odd....at first i thought it could be that you have a boost leak, but it kind of seems like the seals might be gone...

Not to be an ass, but its a DSM....they can be fast as hell sometimes, but they will also teach you how to work on cars in a hell of a hurry because from the ones i've seen around here, they're running about as often as they're broken....

Re: Turbo not working today, what to do

it could have been that the wastegate was stuck open or that the BOV stuck open as well....i've seen both scenarios

as long as it works, you're in business
