I have a 1996 Grand AM SE. Coolant is not leaking from the radiator or water pump. It seems to be leaking from the right side of the engine if you are looking at it from the front of the car. It looks like it is coming out underneath the air intake by the engine block. There doesn't seem to be any discoloration in the oil. I can fill it up with coolant/water and drive for about and hour before all the coolant is gone. Any suggestions on a bad gasket/seal? Can I fix myself if I get the part?

Sounds like the lower intake gasket. Better change it SOON!

Around $50 for the cheap gaskets, and around $80 for the good "problem solver" gaskets. It's hard to say on labor. It's a 3-4 hour job if you're familiar with the 3X00 engine. You do have the 3100/3400 engine, right?

It is common that the 3.1/3.4 leak under the TB.
My GT leaked for months before I fixed it.

Yours on the other hand is quiet severe and need fixed asap!

Make sure the gakets hav the metal rings(the new improved intake gaskets) around the ports.

Where yours is leaking the gaskets dont even cover that area. You use High temp(black) RTV sealant on the block ends.
Gaskets arent that cheap either, $100-120 for the whole upper intake kit. You get what you pay for!
