Question 90 g30 bolts to steering box

the bolts to the steering box keep braking.this is the 3ed time i have replaced them.any ideas on why this keeps doing this? i had the frame welded around the holes.it was kracked around all 3 and did not look safe.and put new bolts in at that time.

Re: 90 g30 bolts to steering box

Are you using the correct bolts, I believe those bolts are grade 8 with washers. Sounds like your van has been wrecked in the past.

Re: 90 g30 bolts to steering box

After you get new bolts installed check your tie rod ends, pitman rod and other parts for wear. If something is excessively worn when it changes direction it will put a lot of additional stress on the steering box.
You can block a wheel put it in park and have somebody turn the steering wheel back and forth. Watch with a flashlight. Excessive movement is very apparent.
