camaro ss 1/4 and 1/8 times
I was just wondering what type of times a stock newer ss (346) would run in a 1/4 mile and an 1/8 mile? I was talking to a guy in a parking lot tonight and he said his ss (stock) ran a 8.6 in the 1/8 and "high 10's in the 1/4".
I looked under his hood, and he has a K&N filter, and thats it. I only know that because i saw the K&N sticker. he had absolutely nothing else. I know bench racing is stupid and everyone hates it, I'm just wondering what kind of numbers this camaro is putting down.

Re: camaro ss 1/4 and 1/8 times
Let just say he is not living in reality if thats all he has done. At very best under excellent conditions it has been proven that LS1 F-bodys can make it into the high 12's in the 1/4 in stock form but he is not running 10's (basically requires another 225 - 300 RWHP) unless he has some type of major work done.

Re: camaro ss 1/4 and 1/8 times
he speaks not for the rest of us F-body owners..
haha, he prolly means high 10s.. as in he smoked some weed at 10.. :B
jk ;x
even if he had new tb and a cam..(which i guess you cant tell from the outside) theres no way hes gonna be running even 11s..
btw, how fast does that eclipse run? 16psi? crazy.

Re: camaro ss 1/4 and 1/8 times
alright....yeah 13's sounds more like it. This guy was also telling me how he whomps on hondas and mitsubishis all day long, and even a couple older vettes. I was just like "ok..whatever"
as for my car, im running 16 for daily driving. With the 550 injectors i can positivly and safely run about 21psi. much more than that, and i dont trust my head gasket or piston rings. I've only been to the track once and it was an 1/8 mile, and i ran a 9.3 at 85 mph at 16 psi, which is ok i guess..
this guy wants to meet up at the same track and run it a week from today. i think ill go for it.

Re: camaro ss 1/4 and 1/8 times
yeah i would hope a camaro would beat a honda... i guess i cant really explain it online, its just the way he was saying it in a poser sort of way, like its really something to be proud of that he beat some hondas. And I dont mean to diss him or any camaros, but its like Shaq bragging to everyone that he beat an old lady in basketball.
but then again if he beat some vettes then thats a different story. I dont think im pushing much more than 300hp at 20psi, plus im fwd. I think the only advantage i have is a lighter body lol. A stock ss is about 320 or so right? I think it'll be an interesting run.

All depends on what model Honda we are talking here. I once got beat in my Formula by a Supercharged S2000. I was standard cubes with some gears, a stall and a catback so I wasn't bone stock either. Also depends on if you consider a NSX a honda or not.

He has right around 300 at the wheels, so he is making roughly 330 - 340 at the crank. Assuming this is a 2000 - 2002 model. A earlier LS1 may be making 10 or so horse less.

Re: camaro ss 1/4 and 1/8 times
8.6 in the 1/8 is right for a stock ls1 fbody. He must have ran it at an 1/8 mile track and messed up when trying to convert his 1/8th time into a 1/4 time. 8.6 in the 1/8th = ~13.4 in the 1/4.

That is what I was thinking.
Gonna say...no way the car covered the last half in roughly 2 seconds.

I agree, seems like a very general statement. Same with Mitsu or most any other brand of car. Matt (-TheStig-) I think ran a 13.3 on a low pressure clutch for the 1/4 ET. Not sure what the 1/8 was though.
