I think that number is 10,000 but I also believe that is for the Ralliart version of the Evo VII. I dunno for certain. The article where I read this (Road and Track) was kinda vague...

I thought that under the old ruling at least 5,000 cars (homologation ruling) should be build. Now that the new EVO is running under the WRC ruling I think this is abandond. But 1,000 items a year will be VERY limited.
I haven't gotten hard evidence on this, but I believe that the production batch will be around 5,000 items in total RHD & LHD. It could well be higher though, now that the car has been added with some more luxery.
okay here is the quote from the mag (turns out to be the April 2001 edition of Motor Trend)
Quote:
In all, production will be limited to just 10,000 units this year. Mitsubishi said it had 4000 orders before the car was even introduced at the Geneva autoshow. The GSR model is expected to cost the equivalent of $26,000.
There you are... Man I wish I had one. Only $26k too... Maybe if I don't eat for like a year then I'll enough money. I want one NOW!!!

A first batch of 10 LHD EVO VII RS models is due to arrive at the end of this month in the Netherlands. These are all going to Rally teams. Next to arrive is a batch of 40 RS2 in LHD trim. These are due at the end of this year. :flash:
First official LHD Evo VIIs will arrive in January. My non-official arrives 1st of November to Rotterdam
I've heard that only 1300 LHD units will be produced.
