Angry Power steering pump gone - need help

Hey guys,

Lost the PSP in my '02 Av this evening in downtown Boston. I had it towed to my sons apt. in Burlington, MA. I don't have all my garage tools with me. My question is what tools am I going to need to purchase/rent/borrow to replace the PSP myself on the road? My son has basic metric wrenches/ratchets. Are there any special tools I'll need to get the lines off? pump off? Anything you can share would be a much appreciated.

I have done this job before, although not on an Avalanche. One tool that will make your life easier is a "pulley puller". You will need that to get the pulley off of the power steering pump. Turkey Baster to suck out the old fluid out of the resovoir might be helpful also. Sorry I could not help you more.

Re: Power steering pump gone - need help

Auxbar,
Thanks for the reply. I ended up driving the truck to my brother-in-laws and used his garage to work on it. He lives in Southern Maine and is in between my son's home and my home in Northern Maine. It wasn't to bad a job. Most of the bolts were 15mm wrenches and sockets. The pressure side hose was just a 16mm wrench. It took us approx. 3 hours from start to finish and that incuded the parts run and putting the new reman'd pump body in the old resevoir.
