boost pressure port location?dreww 10-01-2006, 03:20 PM trying to hookup a boost gauge for my riv. I can find about a million vacuum ports, but not one damn pressure port. Anyone know where it is? 3800 series II motor 96 buick riviera 96riviera18 10-01-2006, 09:29 PM there is a T split below the s/c snout. just trace the vac line from there back towards the firewall and you should find a split with a cap, thats where most ppl put the gauge. dreww 10-01-2006, 10:54 PM there is a T split below the s/c snout. just trace the vac line from there back towards the firewall and you should find a split with a cap, thats where most ppl put the gauge. by "snout", do you mean the part of the SC where the pulley is located? I did see a port under there, but it was vacuum too. I traced it behind near the wirewall and found the split with a plug in it. The car ran/idled weird when it was open. tried putting the gauge hose on it and it still didn't work. I felt a strong vacuum from that plug also. wheres the boost? is it the gauge? There is an "aux" port on the top of the SC, by the brake vaccum, etc. I obviously tried that first and its just vacuum. you can hear these ports sucking away. dreww 10-03-2006, 08:29 PM bump 96riviera18 10-03-2006, 08:49 PM maybe its you gauge (it must be specicly for boost or psi), when your sitting idle or even a little throttle you will see neg. numbers (sucking) until you get into + or boost.(should see ~6-7lbs with stock pulley). i dont have a boost gauge, so i could be wrong but have you tried pluging it in at the T and driving around to see what the gauge says? and yes snout refers to the part that the pulley attaches to. dreww 10-03-2006, 10:00 PM maybe its you gauge (it must be specicly for boost or psi), when your sitting idle or even a little throttle you will see neg. numbers (sucking) until you get into + or boost.(should see ~6-7lbs with stock pulley). i dont have a boost gauge, so i could be wrong but have you tried pluging it in at the T and driving around to see what the gauge says? and yes snout refers to the part that the pulley attaches to. thx for your help so far I did try that port, tried them all and actually drove around. I found one vacuum hose broke that connected to the "bypass valve actuator" but I fixed it. I dont think it was the problem anyways. It is an actual boost gauge measured in PSI. I cant tell the vacuum, cause I didnt get a vacuum/boost gauge. That would help determine if the gauge does in fact work or not. But I blew into the vacuum hose and got no needle movements. I assume a human can make at least 1lb of pressue to at least move the needle? Come to think of it, the needle hasn't budged...not while unplugged and in the box, not while hooked up, nothing (I dont know how sensitive/secure it is). This makes me think its the gauge, but the chances of me getting a brand new "lemon" gauge are slim-to-none. Maybe im not making boost? the belt on the supercharger maybe slipping or something else? If this is the case, it been like that since I got the car. My riv seems to run alot better than most others I know though. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
