replacement panels weight reduction?

my truck basically has all new sheetmetal, with the sole exception being the actual cab itself. doors, front inner and outer fenders, hood, radiator support, entire bed, you name it, its been shipped or is going to be shipped to me from kakanowika or somewhere if you get my jist lol. my point here... it seems to me that the new panels are much thinner (lighter) than the old ones. does anyone here know about how much less these panels might weigh in comparision to the originals they replaced? i was actually able to lift my new doors up with one arm, while the old ones were a good deal heavier, even without the glass or internal pieces in them. the fenders i think weigh 10 or 15 pounds too... which is freakin rediculously cheap-sounding lol... any ballpark guesses or actual facts appreciated...

Re: replacement panels weight reduction?

I've noticed that replacement panels are thinner and lighter than OEM ones. You would have to measure the thickness with a caliper or micrometer to get an idea of a weight savings. However your old panels have primer, paint, sound deadener, etc on them which adds weight.
