Adjusting hand break..

Ok iv noticed that my hand breal lever needs to go all the way up before it engages... but i was told that at about 5 to 6 clicks it should lock the back breaks... Now id like to adjust them.. but, how do I do it.. ?? Do i do it from the cable or from the wheels?? Do i need to remove my back wheels one at the time and, adjust them??? How do i know when they are properly adjusted???

thank you guys..

Re: Adjusting hand break..

Like stated above you may need to replace the brake shoes, if it has them. If it does have shoes then you may just need to adust them. If it has rear disc then you will not beable to adjust them and they may need replaced. If they are still ok, look for the cable under the car most have an adjustment screw on them, shorten it up, go a little at a time so you don't over do it. Hope this helps.

Re: Adjusting hand break..

I think the best thing to do is remove the drums, put new segment sand the inside of the drum with fine paper clean the ole thing up ajust the segment until the drum feels a little grap by turning by hand. Put some penetrating oil where the Y is on the hand brake cable and ajust if necessary.

Good Luck
