checking low gas light
Hello,
Kinda of dumb question, how do you make sure the low fuel bulb is working ? does it light up when you first start the car ? mine doesn't and I once ran quite low on gas (based on mileage) and it didn't light up. I opened the dashboard and the first bulb is labelled "fuel", opened it - it looked fine visually i.e no black burnt marks, no broken filament in the bulb itself.
just trying to make sure i covered my bases, so i don't have to make multiple trips to the store.
thanks
Jay97Rodeo.

Never had the low fuel light come when driving but I can tell you that it doesn't turn on during the "pre-startup" lamp test.

ok.. i wonder why it does not.
i tried to swap bulb from another indicator. all except the low gas light seem to be the same. (: I think, I will head to a store to get replacement bulb. Seriously , is there no way to test the low gas indicator without actually driving on a road and risk running out of gas ?

Maybe I should have clarified my original reply. I have seen the light come on once. I had a little more than 1/8 of a tank or so while getting off of the highway and going around the cloverleaf-thingee I had it come on. It was below the "E" mark but as soon as I go going straight it went out. I'm usually pretty good about not letting my gas get much below 1/4 tank so I don't even care if it the light works or not.

Re: checking low gas light
Your fuel sending unit needs to be replaced. It is a 40 dollar part that is located in the gas tank. See the FAQ's for more information.
