Are you doing circle track racing? If so, your rules will specify what type of intake to run.

Re: two barrel intake

rules only state it has to be gm cast iron intake. thats it.
everyone who runs up there has a different opinion on whats the best one to run. alot of guys run canadian gm's another group of guy swear
by a 327 school bus intake, and one guy has this thing called a britski??
so there are a few options.

Why do they say one is better than the other? If one truly offered obvios advantage, there would be no question. What type of internal modification is allowed? I wonder if talk about intakes is a diversion from internal mods that are limited by rules. If you are allowed to use a 1" spacer between the carb and intake you will gain advantage with any of the manifolds.

Re: two barrel intake

I've never heard of a 'Britski', a 'Canadian', or even a '327 school bus intake'. When I was doing the circle track thing, rules were specific with what type of intake it had to be - generally for the large bore 2GC or 2GV type carbs without EGR - basically this would be any 350 2-bbl from 1969-1972 (73-up have EGR). On my engine we ran an intake from a 1972 Impala. It ran extremely well for what it was, but everyone else ran one too, so there was no advantage. Anyways that was the rules at a NASCAR-sanctioned track (Tucson Raceway Park).

I can't speak for his rules and whatnot, but we were not allowed to run anything other than 2-bbl intake with 2G carb - no spacers or anything else. The only mod allowed on the carb was that we could remove the choke butterfly - all else had to be factory.
