b18 turbo kit

i am thinking about getting a turbo kit for my civic with a b18 gsr motor. i have seen turbo kits listed on ebay for $900 that comes with everything that i would need. i am going to get the apexi vafc with the turbo. i was wondering if these turbo kits on ebay are a good turbo kits. i know that garret turbos are good turbos but how about everything else that comes with them. here is a link to one i am talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CIVIC...26095063QQrdZ1 . would i be able to keep my stock fuel pump and injectors?

Re: b18 turbo kit

Are those kits good.....in a word: NO

I spent about $3k on my setup and it is pretty basic. Also, if you plan to make any kind of decent power, you're going to need a new fuel pump, bigger injectors, an actual EMS (not the VAFC), and a new clutch. If you want, i'm selling my setup this fall. It is an AC and PS compatible setup for a 99 GSR. It is spoken for already, but if you want, we might be able to work something out.....that and i have a ton of parts sitting around already.

well i quoted the other person who is looking at it $2300 and he is probably going to buy it at that price. If it goes through, obviously i won't be able to sell it to you, but that gives you a general idea of what to expect for pricing....

Re: b18 turbo kit

Any turbo kit that sells brand new for $900, I wouldn't trust. You get what you pay for, don't screw around and be cheap with boost. That's a good way to loose your motor. That kit looks a lot like SS Autochrome, and their kits SUCK.

If you want to boost your car, get a good kit or put a have a good custom kit done. Don't use an FMU. Use a good fuel tuning program like Crome or Hondata. PAY for dyno tuning, don't be cheap...I can't stress this enough. And stay away from crap like that ebay kit.

Re: b18 turbo kit

Its possible but the rest of the kit sucks. Just do it right. No sense ruining a highly sought after motor. In the long run, doing it right will pay off. Doing it cheap will cost you many times over what it will to just do it right.

Re: b18 turbo kit

Thiers more to a turbo-setup than the turbo...the turbo MAY BE garrett, but the manifold sucks and will crap, the downpipe sucks and will crap, if you go driving on that crap cracked you can catch something on fire...it uses a fuel pressure reg, which is crap...the piping sucks...

Think about it, a Garrett Turbo can easily run the price of that Kit brand friggen new...and you think you can get a whole stinkin kit for the price of just the turbo normally? NOTHING IS FREE IN THIS WORLD. You get what you pay for.

Do it right or don't do it at all...PERIOD.
