curb weight question

how much would a 73-79 chevy c-10 weigh in this configuration?
smallblock motor
automatic tranny (th400)
regular cab longbed
two wheel drive

i have seen figures as low as 3800 pounds, but i thought newer trucks weighed less and they are all over 5000 pounds. if it's really this light, thats lighter than some passenger cars out there lol... and that 383 really wouldnt be needed to spank some poser ricers lol... though i bet the real tuners would still kick my ass

Re: curb weight question

My brother had a '64 GMC 1-ton pickup with the 9' bed that weighed in at like 3700 lbs. He used to haul scrap steel and verified the weight at several scales.

This truck had the granny gear 4-speed in it with a 327 Vette motor. It was surprisingly fast with an estimated 4.30 rear, he would wind it up to like 6k, drop the clutch in 2nd gear, talk about a launch. It did tend to have some wheel hop to it.

Heh, that reminds me of a 1973 1-ton dually that I had which was a tow truck - it had a 350 under the hood and when you had the transmission in 'granny gear', it would have enough torque to launch itself plus a 24' RV to about 15MPH or so in a couple seconds. That thing would do burnouts.

Re: curb weight question

lol so likely it is under 4000 pounds, especially since the the only exterior sheet metal that is original is the cab itself, the whole front clip and the whole bed will be some very thin foreign-made replacement panels lol, even the doors are from tin-wan-jobiestan or something
