Exclamation Help!!!!!!

Just bought 1967 Chevelle 396 SS. I know there was three original engine styles in car when they were made. I dont have engine code. Anyone have any idea how to find out the original motor put in at production?

There should be a cowl tag that's located on the firewall... is it not there?

yeah that or you might be able to find out by entering the vin number into a website or something.
