my 95 rodeo keeps overheating but I don't think its the cooling system, can it have anything to do with the oil pump?When does it overheat and why do you suspect the oil pump?

I have no idea how a bad oil pump would cause overheating.

I have no idea how a bad oil pump would cause overheating.When my fan clutch failed I noticed oil pressure drop almost to zero while coolant temp was high (in stop and go traffic). Once I got moving again and temperature came down oil pressure came back up to its normal range. I suppose one could think this was an oil pump problem.

Are you certain there are no leaks? How old is the water pump?
