Gizmo42 09-08-2006, 04:12 PM Most common causes of overheating 1. Bad thermostat 2. Plugged/restricted radiator 3. Bad fan clutch I have no idea how a bad oil pump would cause overheating. Canucklehead 09-08-2006, 04:35 PM Most common causes of overheating 1. Bad thermostat 2. Plugged/restricted radiator 3. Bad fan clutch I have no idea how a bad oil pump would cause overheating. When my fan clutch failed I noticed oil pressure drop almost to zero while coolant temp was high (in stop and go traffic). Once I got moving again and temperature came down oil pressure came back up to its normal range. I suppose one could think this was an oil pump problem. surferfletch 09-08-2006, 06:03 PM Are you certain there are no leaks? How old is the water pump? Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
