Fluid in Vacuum ResevoirMikePathfinder2001 09-07-2006, 08:04 PM Hi everyone, When I replaced my hood, I noticed that the vacuum resevoir (I think that is what it is) was filled half way with fluid. I quickley realized it was Transmission fluid. When I refer to the vacuum resevoir, I'm talking about the black ball that has a vacuum hose hooked into it and is connected to the hood on the driver side of the car. Anyway, I'm guessing the fluid came from a leaky vacuum switch located in the transfer case. It may have been collecting in the vacuum resevoir and my 4 wheel drive actuator under the battery (which I replaced becase it had rotted through). Anyway, now I do not seem to have any heat. The fan in the car seems to blow at the correct speeds and out the correct passageways, but It only seems to be one temperature (outside air temp). I'm wondering if fluid was collecting somewhere else and causing this problem. Maybe it is unrelated because I have noticed that this car has always had a hard time heating up inside. Winter will be here in a bit and I will be out in the cold if I don't figure this mess out. Anyway, I would love to hear some possible causes for the lack of heat. Thanks Mike 1997 Blazer BlazerLT 09-08-2006, 12:21 AM The transfer case to transmission seal fails on all 4x4 blazers and juimmys and s10s and when the seal goes it will overfill the transfer case which will then in turn have the vacuum line sucking up the fluid. On flat ground go under your truck and with a drain pan under the transfer case remove the top fill plug for the transfer case. If fluid comes out you know it is overfilled and the transfer case/ transmission seal is gone. Though this will take maybe years to overfill the transfer case, go just drop the excess and close it back up and check it in a couple of months. Just make sure you dump the fluid out of the vacuum ball. It is the transfer case or you are overfilling the transmission.
