My fiancee has this Kia that starts to run hot while in traffic. I realized the small electric fan is not running. I checked the fuses and it is good. In the center of the fan there is a part which is screwed down and held in place with 2 screws. Is that some kind of thermostat? Should I just test the fan to see if its good? I can't get the electrical connector thats to the left of the fan to seperate and replace the whole unit if need be. I was thinking of baring the wires to test it and it its good just bypass that componet and let the fan run all the time. Any ideas?

i dont know how reliable the fan is and how long the fan will last if you were to do that . the linkl i provide may show what to do to fix the problem.

Standard equipment on Sportage 2000 is a belt driven fan with a thermostatic clutch. SO the electric fan you are talking of is not KIA stuff; it is a modification made by previous owner .

I know there is a belt driven fan. This one is in front of the radiator to the left. It appears to cool the a/c unit since as soon as you shut down the a/c the temp drops. My guess its available on Florida cars or something.

All A/C equipt cars have two fans. Electric for A/C and belt drive for cooling the engine. How many miles on the car?
