Hello All!

Wondering if anyone has information on clear protective coatings that are available for my front of my new C4. Also, how damaging are conventional vinyl bras? I'm not sure to have a protective clear shield applied or go with a vinyl bra. Any thoughts for my new dream car (that I've waited 30 years for!) before the front end starts accumulating bugs and sratches?

A conventional bra will EVENTUALLY wear at the paint on the upper edge of the bra. It can also produce an uneven paint fade over time if the car is parked outside often. (even though probably stored in a garage, the car often bakes in the sun for 8-10hrs when at work). The bra on the other hand offers better protection fom stone chips.
The ClearShield looks so much better. Theres no way I would put a bra on any 911 newer than an 1985. I have no idea about the removal of the clear shield. I can't imagine it taking the paint off if you decide to remove it. Also if a stone hits the clear shield, it is possible to marr that.
I apologize for not giving much advice on which way to go, but I hope it gave you something to consider. I would go with the ClearShield; it looks great on my CLK430.

I used a bra on a 1985 911 when I was living on a gravel road while rebuilding a house. It is my daily driver.

I did not remove it when wet. Small pits developed in paint on the hood.

So, bra is fine idea if you never let it get wet and assuming it is properly fitted with no flapping.

I would jam nails into my eyes than put a bra on an '06 porsche. If you can remove the shield, I would go with that. I don't like them because they are so clearly visible and become worse and worse as they age.

For the love of God and everyone who owns a Porsche don't put a bra on it, clear is the way to go. Just make sure the paint is washed/clayed/cleaned/polished before it is installed, which most quality places would do anyway.

I also recommend you go to a more lively Porsche forum, I happened to stumble upon this one on accident but decided to check it out for kicks.
