Lumina 3.1L Head Gasket Failure Common?

Hello everyone, I have just a quick question. Are the 3.1L engine head gaskets for Checy Luminas known to go bad? I promised my brother I would try to find out before he makes the puchase. Any help would be most appreciated.

The 3100/3400 engines have a problem with the intake gaskets sealing the water jackets in the cylinder heads - this causes coolant to enter the engine. If you are experiencing this, it's likely the intake gaskets. Head gaskets don't generally fail unless the engine was overheated good.
