Re: 68' Dodge Dart

The Dodge Dart is the typical A-body compact. It came as either a 4-door sedan, 2-door sedan(?), 2-door hardtop or convertible. Engine choices were 225-6, 273 (2 or 4 barrel), 318 2-barrel, 340 4-barrel, and a few, rare 383 4-barrels. Sub-models included the basic Dart, the GT (2-door with buckets and console), the GTS (high-performance model) and a spring option package called the "Western Sport Special".

What kind of Dart did you find? Details are always helpful.

Re: 68' Dodge Dart

Demons and Swingers came after 1968. I limited my previous descriptions to the 1968 model year. This was the only model year with round, bullseye style side marker lights and the first year for factory side marker lights, as well.

Re: 68' Dodge Dart

It depends on how much you want to spend and what you expect to get in a Dart.

Those Darts were mostly pretty basic cars.
If the car you are considering is a V8 in good shape, it's well worth a reasonable amount of money.

However, by far the majority of Darts were the 6 cyl models, often with very basic interiors and few options. These cars were intended as basic transportation and are IMO only worth buying if they are inexpensive and in exceptional condition.

Avoid any kind of rusty Dart. Their unit body conswtruction was not tolerant of extensive rust. Also generally, there cars are simply not worth much, except for the rare performance V8 models, so IMO only buy a really good example. It is not worth extensively restoring any other model, even if you get it for free.

Yep.

That car in your avatar looks like the car my parents used to drive. It was a '93 Shadow convertible with a 2.5 and an automatic. Cool little car it was. Same color.

Re: 68' Dodge Dart

All the cars I currently own are listed in my signature. You can read more about the Shadow in the Dodge/Nonspecified forum. Great little car, but right now it is on jack stands in the garage waiting for me to drop the head back on and replace the convertible top.
