Well on a more positive note than my last post I figured I'd start keeping anyone who's interested up to speed on the progress with my car. That being said I've decided to keep the head I have (4afe) for the time being considering my financial status and schedule and wait unti I have the money to do it right. In the mean time I found a guy who builds racing engines and he said that for dirt cheap (not sure how much he's gonna charge for his dirt just yet) he could fill the stripped out exhaust manifold bolt hole on the existing head and then re-drill and re-tap and that he gaurantees it to be as strong as it was when it was new. He also is going to do the 3 angle valve job, and the port and polish. Now here's a question... this guy is fairly respectable but he told me that this procedure should give me a minimum of 40 more hp. Now I trust that there are people in here that probably know alot more about my car than this guy does so what would one of you think about what he said? Is he pretty accurate, way below, or way over? Ok sorry for the long a$$ post I'll shut my trap now. LOL!

Without knowing much about your engine or the state of its valve sealing, I would say that 40 hp is a lot of hp from a single mod, particularly in an economy-oriented head.

Well one thing I forgot to mention is that he's also going to replace all of the internals out on the head w/ new ones. Does that make any difference @ all?

yea, building up the head can get you a relativley lot of power. if he replaces them with aftermarket parts 40hp might be possible.

40 HP if your engine is extremely tired and worn out, above stock (103 hp) your looking at 10~15 hp at best it will probly only flow bench like 35 cfm per port more
