Unhappy Brake Problems

Hello. I have a '94 Montero, and I'm having a heck of a time with my brakes.

First, the pedal went straight to the floor, and when I checked there was a broken hose near one of the back tires. My husband replaced it. Then, the calipers froze, and it felt like I was towing the Empire State Building. My husband replaced those, too. Everything felt fine, but the next day I had gotten just a couple of blocks from home when everything froze again. My husband changed the brake pump (where the fluid cup is). The brake pedal is VERY hard. The front brakes bleed fine, but nothing comes out of the back lines. Not air, not brake fluid, nothing. The pedal won't budge, either, when we bleed the hind brakes. Do you thing it's a faulty booster? Please help, I'm desperate.

Thanks.
Jen

Re: Brake Problems

Hi.

Is that the valve towards the back? My husband came to the conclusion (at last!) that that valve isn't working. The brake fluid gets to it, but it doesn't get to the back tires. I need to know what it's called because I live in Puerto Rico and everyone "knows" what it is but don't know what it's officialy named.

Thanks!

Also, does anyone know where I can find this Montero's diagrams?

Thanks!

Re: Brake Problems

i'll try to dig up a pic of it. we had ours replaced about last year coz while the brakes worked, it took short of standing on the brake pedal to even minutely depress it. anyway, IIRC, it's just a small part.
