:banghead: 97 grand am se ran like a champ until i lost the heater core last june. since then, have had 2 more replaced ( at the shops expense, under warranty) for the same problem, failure and loss of coolant. shop grounded heater core to neg term on battery after 3rd core( supposed to "fix" this) but i was examining the puddle of coolant under the car earlier draining from the core drain.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you sure it is coolant if so, you better take a look at the cause of failure in the core, split open, tube seals leaking, core deteriorated/porous, this is necessary to determine the root cause of the failure not just replacing them. Coolant that is acidic can also cause this as well as excess pressure, and electrolysis. Put a voltmeter in the radiator set pos. in the fluid, set to the low scale, ground the neg terminal, shouldn't see more than .25dcv.

Is the shop your going to is installing cheap cores?

Where exactly are they failing?

Does your year round climate allow to you bypass it all together?

backyard flush with a garden hose then replace the hoses electrochemical degridation will make all the hoses weak.
