I have a 2000 Grand Voyager and need to install a harness for trailer lights. I have easy access to the taillights but don't see how I can route the harness down underneath the car without drilling holes and/or removing body panels. Is there a place towards the front of the car and underneath where I have access to both left/right turn signals, stop, etc? Haynes and Chilton were not much help.

On my 1999 g caravan I have a trailer wiring harness (4 pin) I got from the dealer in 2000. It was a factory accessory I ordered from the parts counter. It tees off the tail light plugs & follows the weather stripping around the rear hatch then goes down behind the bumper. I believe it cost me around 75 Canadian.

I bought an after market harness for my '00 Grand Caravan (about $30).
You have to remove some of the inside plastic molding around the tail lights to plug in the T connecters. Then you run the wires down under the carpet and through a hole in the floor (just above the spare tire). There is a rubber plug there that you can slice to put the wires through. Actually you have to do that backwards, start on the outside and fish the wires in. You have to remove the spare tire (or lower it) to get to the plug. It is very easy (really).
Problem 2:
Since you don't have the factory trailer tow package, you must determine how you are going to maintain proper ride height for the rear suspension. The factory package had self leveling rear suspension. Our trailer only had about 150lb of tongue weight, that was enough that after we loaded up the kids and their stuff, the trailer hitch only was about 4 inches off of the ground. Any large bumps or entering/exiting driveways would cause the hitch to hit the pavement (not good). I ended up installing "helper springs" (to restore height) and a Helwig rear swaybar (to stabilze the van).
Problem 3:
Vans equiped with aftermarket tow packages are limited to 1800lb towing.
This is with 1 driver (150lb) and 1 passenger (150lb). Any other weight you add to the vehicle must be subtracted from the towing capacity.
In my case we had about 800 lbs of people and stuff, minus the 300lb allowance gave a tow capacity of 1300lbs. If you have the factory tow package, you start with 3500lbs and work your way down.
