94 530i odd throttle problem

I've got a 94 530i automatic with 78000 miles on it. The car sat for 5 years in a heated garage never driven during that time. I'm driving it now and it runs great except whenever I first start the car when I press on the gas pedal the engine won't rev above 1500 rpm's. If I stomp on the pedal quickly to the floor once or twice then it's just fine. This isn't normal is it?

Re: 94 530i odd throttle problem

I fixed the problem. Apparently the ASC cable pulls the secondary throttle plate closed for a second and releases it at startup, however the plate would stick closed. When I stomped on the gas it would knock it loose and release it. So the reason it would not rev over 1500 rpm's was the throttle plate was closed. I adjusted the stop preventing the plate from closing to the point of sticking and now everything works fine. Also my ASC light is off now which was also on continuously.
