3.73 or 4.10 gear

i am looking for 8-10 people interested in purchasing a 3.73 or 4.10 gear. the gears will be motive gear, and the more people i get wanting one the better deal we get. i am going to purchase the gears through a local speed shop and they told me if i could get more people to go in with me then they could give me a better deal. so until i know how many people i am looking at i don't know prices, but if you would be interested shoot me an email. OnesloZ@aol.com, or you could reply, but email would be better

Hey, heres where I got my 3.73 Gears...

For my application on my little V-6, the rearend was ordered from the factory with the "Performance gear ratio of 3.23 with series 3 carrier". This was the add on feature for the V-6's in 95. I asked Gm if they made a 3.73 7.5" 10 Bolt for the Camaro, nope they said, that gear size was an add on for the S-10s. So relativally thinking, I visited the Local Junk yard where I found A S-10 with the Series 3 Carrier 3.73 gears, 24,000 miles on the rearend, and the gears where in excellent cond. and I got them for $80.00, so I saved myself some cash going that route. Just food for the thought.

Check this sight out for some info on your switchout...

http://mods.firebirdv6.com/drivetrain.html#intake

I personally just swapped out my 3.23 gears factory out of my 95 3.4L V-6, and oh did these gears help out a lot, the revs aren't that much different either, I picked up some serious excell, and didn't drop off of the top end as expected, still have some good top end speed. The revs are a little higher, but not to bad.

On this link, there is an article half way down on called Rear gears.

Also remember that GM did not intend on putting 3.73 gears in there camaro's, so if you want Gm 3.73's, then you have to get them from an S-10 of the same year. Or you can order from richmond or strange gear companies for aftermarkets. The cool thing about the GM's is you dont need an install kit.

Another note...

I also read on here, that you will need to have your ECU reprogrammed if you drive a manual, and thats all you can do to over compensate the computer controlled speedometer. If its a auto, then you can use a jet ecu. Im going to get my computer reprogrammed anyway to match the fual curve and etc.

Full Tilt Boogie...

I just got the 3.73 gears in my camaro, and damn is it quick on the excelleration throughout all the gears.
I posted some upgrades that I have done yesterday, and my car was in the shop at the time, getting the swap. You can do the swap yourself, if you know what your doing, never done it before, so I had it done.
Anyway, it is fast, but not fast enough, still needs more plutonium in the reactor...

.

If you want to be faster you should use 4.10s. Hell with both you want your ass moving, get a 4.56 gear ratio or you might even want to try a 4.9

I have an '89 GMC Jimmy 4X4 I'm building. I have a Bravado AWD transfer case and an LT1 from a '97 TA. It should bolt right up to my 700R4 tranny with a sift improvment kit. I will be leaving the stock 7 5/8th" 3.73 limited gears in the front, but in order to ride on an 18" /20" wheel combo, I need to change the rear gears. I was looking for an 8 1/2" 4.11 posi with discs. Would it be easier to find a 4.10? How bout something lower? Where do you get a 4.56 or 4.90? What cars? What years? Are they posi? How bout disc breaks? It would be much easier than doing a discs conversion. I really want a Dana 44 independent rear end outta a Vette, but they are too expensive. HELP. I want to drive my Tyclone before I die!
