How about hard stumps and tough gas tanks?

Opened up the tank via the pump/sender access under the back seat and had a look inside. The dent is well forward of the pump/sender unit, no harm. Inside surface looks well-dimpled but otherwise intact. Got the skid plate back into shape and back on to boot!

Planned to let the frame rail and spring perch take the hit, but was a few inches off. My efforts to free myself only made it worse. The skid plate was ripped right off the crossmember bolts, the rear bend was straightened and a new one created a few inches further up its length.
Hi-lifting off the rear bumper and pushing me off it a few times finally got me clear. Remove the 2 remaining bolts holding the skid plate on and we were back on the trail.

The tanks are like 6 or 7 layers thick as I recall, sure glad Nissan didn't skimp on 'em!

So glad to have you back on the forums Mike!

Now, who was the first to smash, or should I say destroy, his gas tank? Wasn't it your old friend Pikachu?

Time for a decent skid plate on the gas tank???

I think Superjens had a similar incident up there in the mystical land of Canada.

Someone sure begged for money on his behalf when he drove on thin ice.

Brent also hasnt rolled his Xterra while trying to drive up a tree.

Pikachu NEVER asked anyone for any help. Some friends helped him out.

Pika was not the whore..

As I remember it ..

It was Mr.T , FSR and one or two others that came to the boards trying to pan handle to get some money to fix Pikachu's truck after he ramed a piece of ice up into his radiator core. I never once saw Pika whore for money on the boards.

The story I got was that Pika did have insurance but did not want to file because his rates would go up. What inspired the others to come to the board to get "donations" I will never understand.

Nonono, I never rammed anything with any part of my truck. I came crawling down some boulders and a misplaced wheel had my gas tank touch a rock. Not nearly the same size dent as Brent's!

dented by a feather

Huh...since you have nothing better to do than search for old info find your bookmark for the thread!!!

Panhandle...yea ok...WHY did people donate money to his cause? Because he is OUR FRIEND and has done way more than you have for the Xterra community and would be the first to help ANY of HIS FRIENDS in a similar circumstance or anything for that matter.
