P0134 Code

My 97 blazer is running rich and has set the check engine light. I bought a scanner and it reads a P0134 code. THe blazer puffs a black cloud of smoke under heavy excel like going up hills or merging on to the hwy. I cleaned the MAF but it still does it. Any ideas?

Re: P0134 Code

I played around with the conectors seeing if one was lose reset the computer then tried it again. Code went off again and now there is a P1406 code too. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I search the net and found that the p1406 code means "EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit". I am not sure what thats means. I guess that means the EGR needs cleaning????

Re: P0134 Code and a P1406 Code

Well its looking like I am on my own here. I really need some advise. I have cleaned the egr valve which didnt look too bad. I have replaced the o2 sensor in front of the cat. I looked for a vacuum leak but couldnt find one. Reset the computer and its still setting codes. P0134 P1406. Is there something I am missing???

Re: P0134 Code

my mom had a 95 blazer and she needed the EGR valve replaced so many times. there a problem with chevys. egr valves take any extra exhaust and puts it back through the system which makes the truck run cleaner for emissions and for better gas milage. i would get a new egr valve and change the 2nd o2 sensor. the 2nd one usually throws the code because its the one that needs to have a cleaner read because of your CAT filtering the exhaust.
