Unhappy Stereo Woes

I just got a 92 Lumina and it had the radio ripped out (and the stock harness cut). So I decided to throw my cd player from my old car into this one. I am 100% positive I hooked it up correctly, but the thing wouldn't turn on. So I hardwired the power to the fuse box and hooked up the speaker wires correctly to the cd player, and now the player turns on and functions, but I get no sound from the speakers. I have no clue what is going on but it seems that the original wiring is shot. I am completely lost as to where to go from here. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

i would try different speakers. like if you have any lying around. and wire them to the radio without mounting them just to see if they work. that will narrow it down a bit. if the test works then its probly a problem with the wireing. either shorted out somewhere, cut or maybe the speakers are just blown.

Re: Stereo Woes

my sources do show that your car May or May Not have an amp in it. It says that its under the rear shelf in the trunk. If yours does in fact have an amp, you may have to wire things up a little differently to your radio.

Re: Stereo Woes

it appears there is a pink wire that is the "turn on" for the amplifier. It needs to be hooked up to turn on the amp.

Re: Stereo Woes

I appreciate all the help guys! I finally got it working. Apparently there was a short in the wiring. Once I spotted it and re-hooked everything up I was able to get it working! It's amazing how one little thing can cause you 2 days of headaches

Thanks guys!
