Question question!

hey all, I have a friend that just purchased a new truck, he bought a 2000 F-150 Lariat.... I know.... I tried my best to tell him that Chevy is th eonly way to go but he would not listen. Anyways he paid cash for it because he was in a wreck and his truck was totaled so he got the dealership to hold his check for a week and he got the rest from a close realtive but he told them they could go on and cash that check. So now it has been three weeks and they still have not cashed his check. So my question is since the dealership gave him all his paper work to go apply for his title and all that, if he gets his title ad they still have not cashed his check, does he still have to pay them the money or can he put a hold on that check and just keep the money since he will have the title. I think they have lost his check or something so if tey dont cash it then he will have gotten a 2000 Ford F-150 Lariat with 56000 miles for only $6500.00. I told him if they dont cash it then he can trade that truck in and put that other money with it and get a sweet Chevy. Ifgure you can do anything and you dont have to worry after you have your title bacause that is proof taht you paid for that truck in full. Thanks

Re: question!

I'm thinking they should have at least 90 days to clear their books. My guess is that any court would have a similar opinion.

Re: question!

Or like some companies they wait until month end to clear a check. My wife and I just bought a new car and it took almost a week for the check to clear...

On August 17 it will be one month since he told them to cash the check. He said he isn't gonna spend the money he just thinks it is funny that it is taking this long for them to cash it. he said that he is gonna maybe put it in a savings account and make a little money on their money. I guess we will see.

Re: question!

Fun with Auto Finance! Whenever I keep a vehicle long enough to pay it off, I send 1 cent more than the final payment. Then wait 12 weeks for the check to come for the overage refund. I have a collection of checks printed out for a penny from Ford, GMAC, Mitsubishi...
