96 F350 7.3L PS water in fuel light-no water

my water in fuel light is on all the time and there is no water in the fuel. i suspect the sensor. it is not budging and is a bitch to get to. do i have to pull the filter/separator bowl to replace it?

I fixed the problem.

The WIF sensor post area outside of the filter housing was dirty. It looked clean but after scrubbing the area around the threaded post with scotchbrite glued to a popsicle stick the light went out.
Also, I had disconnected the wire to be sure the problem was at the filter housing or the wiring.
