w/ $6K, just get a 20B 3-rotary turbo. you'll be making more HP than some TV show, as well as being a rare motor that the USA never got.

well in the beginning of stage 1. he had 350hp but in order to race takumi he detuned his car to 260hp. but after that race he brought it back up to his original hp again.

Well Takahashi is considered the best because of his experience and intellegence. Takumi doesn't have that much racing experience(tuning, techniques, stats), he only knows how to drive. Takahashi overall is a better racer. lol thats what i think anyway...

And yes it was 350hp.

I don't think they mean Ryosuke is a better driver, I think it is more the deep rooted respect thing, you get that a lot in Japan(this I have only learned from people who have been to Japan, I have no first hand experience). Takahashi is already almost at his peak, and Takumi is just getting started, so there is an understanding there... Confused yet? I am...

So NSX, how much have you got saved for that R34? :)

Ryosuke had the strategic aspect of driving down pat. He knew what to do, when to do it, and why. He also participated in sanctioned competitions, so he's a "real" racer.

Takumi on the other hand, just does the stuff because he learned that it works. He's got the raw talent, just from experimenting over the years as he made his tofu delivery. Ryosuke is supposed to be helping Takumi with just the knowledge of stuff while they're together on Project D. Under Ryosuke's tuteledge, Takumi's talent can be honed and focused, and he'd probably end up being much better than Ryosuke. It's just like how Takumi got a lot faster after the upgrade to the Silvertop 20v engine. He had more power to work with, so it made him much faster.

Keisuke, though, is kind of a combination of Ryosuke and Takumi. He's learned some stuff from Ryosuke, but I never saw anything about him driving in sanctioned events like his brother. That means that just about all of his driving experience comes from driving on the streets, like Takumi.

well as fast as takumi got bunta still burned him by the time they cleared the first corner. my friend has the manga and told me about it. it was funny. after the first corner. takumi can't see bunta's tail lights no more.

It's a 20V from a Group A rally corolla I believe... I'm not sure though. They mention it's from a Group A car, but I'm not sure whether that is rally or touring car... The AE92 was the corolla used for that, so it could have been touring car as well.

Ryosuke described the engine as being from an AE101 in a racing series called "Touring A." I don't know if that really exists, however. The 20v is a JDM engine, though. It was offered in the AE101 and AE111, iirc.

Allegedly, Bunta must have had some connections at TRD to get him the engine. Bunta and his mechanic(don't know his name) did have to make some modifications to put the engine in the AE86. Since the AE101 is fwd, the 20v engine has to mounted differently in the AE86 engine bay. The 20v is a little longer than the 16v 4AGs too, so you have to cut into the firewall a bit.

I guess we have different translated videos! My video had Bunta say "do you remember group A racing?". I suspected it was a touring car motor, because the group A rally Corollas used turbocharged motors.

My ambition one day is to put a Formula Atlantic engine in an 86. Oh the power! I think those things are good for 14,000 rpm or some sick redline like that...

I don't remember what Bunta said about it. We might both be right.:D

The only thing about high-rev engines like the Atlantic 4AGEs is that the driveability is terrible for the street. People complain about revving up to 8900rpm to hit the Honda S2000's sweet spot. Imagine having to wait until 11k!
If you still want to do it, however, you should look into...(gasp) the Honda B-series engines. Toda Racing makes VTEC-killer cams that delete the VTEC and keep on revving up to about 13k. They cost $1800 in addition to the B-series motor, but it'll be cheaper than buying an Atlantic engine.:)

Oops, you're right... it was Ryosuke who was talking about it... he says "group A" in my version, he doesn't mention touring...

I don't want a honda powered Toyota, and I wouldn't trust a stock honda motor at those speeds :p

Besides, those FA motors are sick powerful. I saw a Honda S2000 motor an 86 though! The thing must have just flown!

You think that's a fast AE86?:) I have a video of a rotary AE86. Sure, some people put in the 13b engine. This one had the 20b, yep, the 3-rotor. It showed another 86 following the one with the 20b on the highway. The 20b AE86 just pulled on the other car, as if it were standing still! Now that is fast.hehe

The 4A-GE Engine in my AW-11 purrs like a kitten until i turn on the Turbo. the 4A-GE is an excellently balanced engine if you know how to treat it and make some minor adjustments. i had considered putting a special model 4A-GTE engine in and modify the aftermarket turbine...but i don't feel the need to throw in more power..., i figure the day a mustang GT, a jaguar or a dodge viper beats me in a real race..i might conser adding alittle more power...but until then i can already leave them in the dust.:sunglasse

With twin hybird turbo,ECU & injetor mod . you simply boost up FC3c Power .

sure you need more works for the cooling system after that
:move intercooler to the front of the engine/or replace a Racing type one.
:replace old radiator to a aluminum radiator tank.
:add oil cooler for the engine .
:Performance breaking system.

last... you need bomex bodykits (specialist for RX7 bodykit) :iceslolan www.bomexaero.com
