A/C compressor
I am looking for a rebuild kit for a 91 silverado AC compressor. Is there such a thing? I am trying to get my AC working again on a budget, and the compressor is shot. New one is way too expensive. any help would be great. Also, any info on this new refrigerant DURACOOL?

You will be a lot better off to convert to R134A.
Some blends contain propane/butane for a mixer and wiill blow up if they hit a flame.
On the compresser a good used one or a good quality rebuilt.
Rebuilding would cost you a lot more even if you could get the parts and tools.
Also if compressor is blowed the system will need flushed out and dryer and expansion tube replaced.

I'm not a member over at acautoforums, but I wanted to say thank you for the link, and if you will pass along my thanks, I'd appreciated it.
Solved my problem of the compressor clutch being intermittent on my '96 Tahoe. The clutch to pulley gap seems to be 4 or 5 times more than spec in the Helms manual. Electrical and coil resistance checks are all ok.
Since this is an all new a/c sytem, installed right at a year ago, back to the installing dealer and ask them to adjust the gap smaller.

Will do that.
BTW, I mis-read the spec for the clutch gap, so it was not nearly so bad as I thought, but does seem wide.
Notice a bit of binding when I rotate the driven plate while the pulley is stopped. Wonder if I can spray a bit of lube (WD-40?) into the plate without harming anything?

It needs set so it does not drag when disengaged.
I do not think any WD -40 or any lube will stay on it.

Had the new system for less than a year, it turns out, so heading to the installing dealer for them to check/adjust now.
