Hi

I have a 1998 Galant Viento 2.4GDI. I have owned the car for about 2 months and have always noticed that the lifters can be a bit noisy from time to time. I have been told that using thinner oil can possibly solve this problem.

If anyone has any alternative ways to reduce noisy lifters then it would be very helpful?? Preferbly alternatives that dont cost a fortune.

Cheers

There are additives to help clean them through. There are also many engine flushes to help remove sludge and gunk from the engine. Regular oil changes should at least keep it at bay, if not solve it altogether. I have tried all the above, and whilst it has helped, I have just ordered a set of lifters for my 6A13TT to cure the problem fully!
