My sons 91 camry leaked coolant onto the passenger side floor.

Its a 4 cyl. We just had the heater core replaced 2 yrs ago and seems it may need to be done again.

What else would cause the coolant to leak on to the p size floor?
I hoping its not the heater core AGAIN! YIKES.

He told me he saw mist coming out of his ac vents which I blew off as moisture, then he called me a few hrs later to tell me about the coolant on the floor and that he overheated and his radiator was empty

If it is the core why would a new one go so quickly?

The only way coolant can get on that side of the floor is from the heater core or one of the hoses leading to/from it.

Are you sure it's coolant and not just plain water? If the ac vent tube that leads outside the car gets clogged, it can leak plain water (condensation) on to the passenger side floor. Pray for that.

Thanks for the response, it is coolant and his rad was emptied.
Guess he is screwed, poor kid. Like I stated we replaced the core two years ago when he bought the car. The mechanical said the core was bought from the dealer too. Not sure if he was lying. Maybe he and I will pull the dash and do it ourselves.

More likely the hoses or clamps than the core if it's that new. Double check the hoses before you buy another core.

Heater cores are very touchy. They bend easy therefor possible cracks in tubes. I hate heater cores and installation. But do check tubes ( hoses) first.

He can get a brass splicer from the plumbing section of a hardware store (less than $2.50) to connect the two heater hoses together so he can drive the car until the heater core is repaired.
You will want a detailed repair manual. Try your local library for a manual or ask the parts guy at your local dealer if he can copy the appropriate pages from the factory service manual.

Edit: Just noticed there are a few factory service manuals available on this forum.

Thanks I'm going to bypass the core I hae a T-fiitting from a flush and fill git I can use to attached the input and output hose
I have a FSM but have found heater core
removal/replacement in it yet.
