Keyless entry

I am stationed with the US Army in Belgium. I have a 1996 Blazer (US Spec) with a Dealer installed keyless entry system, which has a small LED type element installed under the dash on the right side of the steering column. The LED blinks slowly in the "safe" mode, and when I press the "unlock" button on the Keychain fob, the LED typically begins to blink rapidly which then allows me to start the vehicle. Well just recently, I cannot start my vehicle. I changed batteries on the remote, but no help. There is no "valet" button/switch to override the system either. I am stuck. Can someone please suggest remedies or alternatives???? THANK YOU! Mike
