K&N Hi flow causing trani probelms

I was driving down the highway the other day and all the sudden my truck stopped supplying power to the wheels. My engine kept running fine and I received no type of check engine light or msg on my msg center. I had my friend come tow me to the mechanics once I got there my truck was running fine again. My truck has been running since and it seems like the truck is really bogging down in the lower gears. I took it to the dealer but it wont do it again and I really dont want my truck to leave me stranded again. I do have a K&N cold air intake and the dealer said they've had issues with the oil in the filters messing with the air sensor and that makes the trani run funny. Im really boggled here and Im curious if anyone has had this same issue. I have a 99 Z71 silverdo. Thanks

I didn't have the exact same problem, but I had a problem with my tranny shifting funny after I de-screened my MAF. Like I said, not the same exact thing, but at least it shows that airflow sensor problems can affect transmission. Yours seems like a pretty extreme reaction, though.

If it quit pulling all together it sounds like more than the K&N filter problems.
You need to find a good dealer that will check things out good.
There should have been a stored code or something in computer history section.
Tip on going to the dealer
Ask that only a factory certified gasoline engine and transmission performance specialist work on your car.
Not all dealerships are concerned with how repairs are dispatched, and not all dealership techs bother to take advantage of the training offered by Ford (the vast majority of which is paid training). If the dealer is uncooperative, ask for your money back and call around for a dealer that will accommodate you.
On the K&N filter go easy on the oil and keep it serviced good and clean that MAF sensor good.
CRC makes some good spray can Maff sensor cleaner.

A mechanic in town said my rear dif is really sloppy so we're goin to open it up and service it tomorrow. When my truck died I didnt receive any codes and I dont think the rear dif will send a code if stuff is messed up in there. I think if it were my trani it would have sent a code.

So I opened up my rear dif and the magnet had a big glob of shavings on it...Now I havent messed with the rear dif too much and my buddy whos a machanic came over and said that my rear dif is sloppy as hell and there shouldn't be that many shavings if anything a small amount...also the 90W oil was REALLY dark which 90w if I'm right usually holds its color pretty well unless something is wrong..any thoughts?

at my job we use 90 weight oil for food processing gearboxes and i belive it does hold its color very well unless it has not been changed for a very very long time
