Angry Help My truck wont run Right 92-F150, 300-6

I have a 92 f-150 300 straight 6 that i am having trouble with
Let me tell you what it is doing. When i start it up it might run
right and it might not. When it acts all crazy it fill like it is only
running on 3 or 4 cylinders a light gray smoke comes out and it
smells like it is running rich, it cuts on and off not completely
dying but coming real close. I have put all kind of new parts on
it a few months ago like a new fuel fillter,O2 sensor ,EGR valve, spark plugs
and wire's, cant remember what that valve is call but it makes the
motor rev up when you first start it... yea...a new one of those.
It seams like its not getting spark to all the cylinders????
I have also noticed it more when i run low on gas, so to make
sure that was not the problem i filled it up and on the way
back to the house and it still tried to die.....
I don't know what the problem is maby somebody can Help me
Thanks JeepJones85 Jones85@gmail.com

Yikes! You have my sympathy. Did you install all those new parts attempting to remedy the problem, or did the problem(s) start after the parts were installed?

Can you check the fuel pressure value when the problems are evident?

Question Re: Help My truck wont run Right 92-F150, 300-6

All those parts that i installed were previous problems this is a
New problem, I thank it has to do with the battery.....
Would anybody know the cold cranking amps for my truck?
The battery that is on it now is like a 450 cold cranking amps
i believe that i have the wrong battery.

Re: Help My truck wont run Right 92-F150, 300-6

Anywhere you can buy a battery will have an application guide to assist in specifying the proper battery; however, unless your battery has a dead short or an open cell it is unlikely to be the problem. A battery whose only shortcoming is having more or less than the specified cranking or cold cranking amps won't cause the symptoms you described. Any battery in reasonably good condition is just another electrical load once your engine is running. The Alternator supplies all the electrical loads including recharging the battery except for transient high load conditions like operating a winch, raising a power window while the defrost is on high fan with the headlights at high beam while the brake lights are on.....in that case, at idle, the alternator might be overtaxed and the battery would help take up the load.

Just a thought....is there any chance the EGR valve is plumbed to the wrong vacuum line?

Smile Re: Help My truck wont run Right 92-F150, 300-6

I thank i got the problem fix this time.
I took my truck to O'Reilly's and the battery wasn't charging,
so all we did was clean the battery posts and hooked them
back on to the battery and it worked ...Been driving it the
last few days and no problem. The guy at O'reilly's said that
if i had bad battery connections that it could make the truck
act all crazy. Because the alternator could not charge the battery right.
The battery terminals did not have any of that
green corrosion on it they just had a dark gray film on them
Any way it works now . Thanks though Jeepjones85
