On me 94 Camry, the "Unlock Detection Switch" that locks and unlocks all doors with the key on the passenger door stopped working. It actually worked sometimes if I really jiggled the key back and forth and worked the lock cylinder a bit, but I didn't want to keep doing this. I took off the door panel, and took out the latch assembly to try to repair the switch. As I was cleaning and giving the contects a little extra bend to give them better contact, I snappededed it... But at least now I know it won't work, so I won't sit there and jiggle my keys and look suspicious, lol. I looked in a parts list, and it seems the only way to get this part from a dealer is to buy the $400 latch assembly, I can't buy the small switch itself.

So now I have 3 questions:

Is this part at all important to the power lock system? Right now I have it disconnected, and everything seems to work, I don't know if the Power Lock motor also uses this switch to know when it's finished locking or unlocking the door. I opened it up and looked at the power lock motor and it seems as if it has a separate switch for that, but I don't want to take a chance.

Does anyone know of any website that I can order this part from, or should I just go to a junkyard and get the latch assembly (or just the switch from a you-pull-it)?

Are there any electronics engineers or hobbiests here that know where I can get a good, cheap, secure Remote Relay with at least 2 buttons that I can add on to this switch to give me remote locks? Hopefully one that works off of 12 volts (or less with the help of diodes), and obviously with low-current so it don't kill me battery. I'd also add a small electronic switch to the power supply wire going to it so I can turn it off fo' sho' when I'm in the ghettos, lol. (Just an idea in case anyone else is thinking of making their own "Auto-Unlock Version 1.0 Beta" It'd just be something cool and easy to do, as long as I know the remote is secure and nobody else will unlock me doors. I don't want to go and do a whole remote starter system, cuz thats too much money for a little knick-knack.
