Well since you liked pounding it so much try pounding it some more the opposite direction while giving it some head........uh......ooops I mean heat.:uhoh:

Ok sorry could not help but make some lame jokes, now onto physics: if you can find something that will apply some fast heat to the "mother" side of the connection it will expand and pop off easily. While you apply the heat try tapping it with a hammer.

An acetylene torch would work very well in this case, if you have anyone that knows how to use one well (not a toy).

oh man, I can see her car going up in smoke now!

get some "PB blaster" at any autoparts shop and spray it onto the rusted areas. It eats away at the rust and lossens everything up. then pound it with a hammer.

oh yeah, you have to let it sit for a bit cause it takes a few minutes to dissolve all the rust.

yeah..me and a torch..:shakehead

it's really close up under my bumper so i can't even try and pound it back out...and i forgot to mention i pounded the pin in there as hard as i could too.

i'll give that PB blaster stuff a try, thanks :)

perfect solution: take a hammer to the pin if you need to get it out. then have another friend with a hitch on their car come over. back that car up to yours. put a chain on both hitches, and driver in opposite directions. either it will come out or your friend will need a new pin :grinno:

or just try lots of WD-40/PB blaster and some pulling

It depends how bad its stuck. I know my boss ended up giving up on getting the hitch out of our work van. He tried pounding it out, greasing it up, even tying the hitch to a tree and then taking off with the van....it stopped the van in its tracks and threw my boss into the dash. So it may require some trial and error and even a little finesse.

hit it hard with something metal and curse alot, pause for beer, and return to hitting it. Get mad, kick it, throw a tool or 2 over your roof, curse alot again, drink 2 more beers, go onto AF to bitch about it being stuck, then try the aforementioned suggestions....has always worked for me when I have a stuck bolt or oil filter.

the pin was in a position pretty much under the bumper. but no worries, i went out to my car today to assess the "damage" i would have to deal with and i see the trailer hitch and pin laying in the garage. one of the only sweet perks of living at home, daddy will sometimes do stuff for me..even if it's probably cuz he had no faith that i would ever do it myself but oh well, w/e works i say!
