Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

I am trying to change the sparkplugs on a 1998 Camry LE V6. I want to know that would it be okay if I changed the old spark plugs with the Bosh Platinum +4 without any problems? The car has 118,000 miles on it. I might even change the sparkplug wires on the car too, any brand recommend?

Why not get the plugs recommended for the car?

Re: Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

RE: Bosch Platinum 4. I don't mean to antagonize the purists.....but I bought a 96 Landcruiser a few years ago with around 100,000 miles. I installed a set of bosch platinum plugs 4 that time. A year or so and 140,000 miles later, I though I had better replace the plugs again. I bought another set of the Plat 4's. The landcruiser was running flawlessly...but 140,000 miles. When I pulled the old plugs they were a nice tan color and there was NO visible wear or pitting!!!! I think these plugs are great.

Cool Re: Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

No they will not be OK. Yes they will be giving poor spart within the next year.
NGK, or Denso only.
The OEM Toyota wires are higher quality than what you'll buy replacements for. The next step up is Vitek wires. Past that is paying a few hundred bucks for Magnacore. It's a coil on plug ignition too, btw. At any rate, changing them doesn't do anything constructive unless they're damaged.

Toysrme pretty much stated the concensus of opinion on this forum. Denso or NGK are the way to go with OEM wires.

Re: Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

Put me in with the Denso or NGK group. I put a set of Bosch plugs in my Camry and 17,000 miles later she was running poorly. Changed to NGK plugs and she went back to running well again (Yes, all I changed was the plugs). No more Bosch for my Toyota....

Re: Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

Every mechanic I have ever talked to has said that Bosh plugs are some of the worst out there. It's best to stick with the OEM plugs. You save a lot of money doing that too!

My car requires NGP Doubble Platinum lazer inprinted plugs. But untill recently they cost about 13.50+ a plug. Once the Iridium plugs came the price of platinum droped to meet that of iridium plugs. I switched over to the NGK Iridium and have never been happier! They cost the same, but last longer and get a better spark!

If your going to buy a more expensive plug, go iridium!

Would spark plugs like the NGK be readily available from Advance Auto Parts or do I have to go to some other place to find these.

Almost any auto parts store will carry NGK plugs. They are very common.

Re: Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

I have a 98 Camry V6 and have been using Bosch Platinum +4 now for two
years and driven 37000 km on these plugs with no problems. The car runs
and starts ok. Bought them since they were on sale but I will try the
NGK Iridium next time just for comparison.

Iridium plugs are the nuts for engines with hard-to-get-at plugs, where you don't want to ever change them again, or at least only one more time...

Re: Bosh Platinum +4 Would these be okay?

About two years ago I thought I was doing my Camry a favor, and I bought the Bosch Platinum 4 plugs along with Bosch wires. When I first changed them, I noticed a huge difference in performance...at first. That lasted only about a year, then the car was like poop again. So I went to check all the spark plugs looking for any kind of fouling, and well, all the Spark Plug wires (The Bosch) fell apart as I was trying to pull them out. Boots separating from the wires, insulation ripping and peeling (because at that point I had to pull by wire, it was the only handle left) and the terminals at the end of the wire sticking to the plugs preventing me from taking the plugs out. After a few hours of screw-driver prying, I finally got those pieces off, and took out the plugs. So summed up so far, Bosch Wires DEFINITELY SUCK! Stay away!

Then, the plugs seemed alright, so I left them in, even tho it was running like crap still (the engine worked fine, just sluggish acceleration). Basically, at this point I didn't see any real good reason that I bought the Bosch over OEM. Then I came across this topic today, and it inspired me to finally change the plugs. I used to NGK Iridium IX. After struggling with getting my boots off again, they always seem to stick real bad for me, I don't know if its normal, but it's a pain in the ass! But I finally got them in, and noticed a huge difference with acceleration, and the engine sounded and ran a lot smoother. I am really happy with the NGK so far, I just want to see how long they last. So I was wondering if anyone here has any insight on how long NGK Iridium have lasted for them?

My dad has an RX300 with Denso Iridiums (comparable to NGK Iridiums). I just replaced the plugs on that at somewhere around 80-90k. If it were my car I would have put those plugs right back in. So real sign of anything wrong with them, but there just isn't any arguing with dad
