Re: Dodge Superbee

What year? The majority were probably 383 "Magnum" engines. 383 has a 4.25" bore and 3.375" stroke. The other most popular would be the 440 Magnum. 4.32" bore, 3.75" stroke.

I know the 440 "Six Pack" (3 2-bbl. Holleys) was available in the '70 model. Someone else may be able to shed light on whether or not it was in the '69s as well. There may be the odd Hemi-powered one out there, too, but rare if at all.

It seems I recall seeing a couple of '71 models, but can't be sure (a LONG time ago...). Those would probably have 340s in them, rather than the big blocks.

Re: Dodge Superbee

The Superbee for 1971 was the Charger Superbee. Dodge had phased out the 2-door Coronet for 1971 and packaged all 2-door intermediates as Charger. I knew a fellow classmate in high school who had one with 383 Magnum. He acquired his '71 Superbee shortly after my father bought our 1971 Charger 500 with 383 Magnum. This was the spring of 1974, right after the first gas crisis. Those were the days. I think that the 340 Magnum, 440 Magnum, 440 six-pack and 426 Hemi were all available on the Superbee that year. 1971 was the last year for the Superbee, the 383 and 426 Hemi.
